Duff & Phelps Appoints David Lu Managing Director and Head of the Firm's Investment Banking Practice in China

Significant Expansion of Investment Banking Capabilities in China

Duff & Phelps, a leading independent financial advisory and investment banking firm, today announced that it has appointed David Lu as Managing Director and Head of the Firm’s Investment Banking Practice in China. Mr. Lu and his team, who will be based in Shanghai, join Duff & Phelps from Cowen Group, Inc. where, most recently, he served as Head of Asia Investment Banking. At Duff & Phelps, Mr. Lu will focus on providing advisory services related to mergers & acquisitions, fairness opinions, going-private transactions, private market capital raising transactions and financial restructuring in China. He will report directly to Robert Bartell, Duff & Phelps’ Global Investment Banking leader, and will work closely with the firm’s China business leader, Sammy Lai, to set overall strategic direction throughout the region. 

“David brings significant leadership and transactional experience within mainland China and Hong Kong,” said Mr. Bartell. “He and his team will be integral to helping clients achieve growth objectives in the region while expanding the Firm’s investment banking and cross-border capabilities.”

Prior to joining Cowen, Mr. Lu served in senior leadership roles at Piper Jaffray and Rodman & Renshaw, where he spearheaded the Firm’s investment banking presence in China. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lu worked at DBS, Vickers Financial, and Salomon Smith Barney. He holds a M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.
