Duff & Phelps Expands UK Investment Banking Team with Four Senior Level Appointments

New Managing Directors join Restructuring and M&A practices

Duff & Phelps Corporation, a leading independent financial advisory and investment banking firm, today announced the appointment of four Managing Directors within the global M&A and restructuring practices of its London office. These appointments add to Duff & Phelps’ presence of more than 180 professionals across its four UK offices.

James Cook and Mark Skelton join the Restructuring team, where they will focus on large and cross-border restructurings, as well as distressed transactions. Mr. Cook and Mr. Skelton most recently held senior positions in the Financial Advisory & Restructuring Services team at a global independent advisory firm and have extensive knowledge in restructuring, insolvency and turnaround, with particular emphasis on complex, multi-jurisdictional situations. They will report directly into Paul Clark and David Whitehouse, who jointly lead the UK Restructuring business.

Paul Clark commented “James and Mark bring significant restructuring experience as well as cross-border expertise to our team in London. Their private equity, lender, and industry relationships will augment the efforts of our existing and deeply knowledgeable senior professionals. I look forward to the momentum this expansion will create in 2014.”

Joel Hope-Bell and Henry Wells join the global M&A team, where they will each offer specific sector expertise to UK companies and financial sponsors. Mr. Hope-Bell will join Paul Teuten as Co-head of UK M&A and will focus on business and support services. Mr. Wells will focus on leisure, retail and consumer sectors and will be an integral member of our Global Consumer, Retail, Food and Restaurants practice, specifically in aiding cross-border transactions. Both Mr. Hope-Bell and Mr. Wells join from DC Advisory, where they served as managing directors and held leadership roles in their respective sector specialities.

Paul Teuten commented “I am delighted to welcome Joel and Henry to the London M&A team. We already have a strong platform and growing reputation in manufacturing and energy in the UK and I am confident we will be able to extend this to clients in the leisure, retail, consumer and business services industries as well. I believe their expertise also enhances our ability to execute on transatlantic deals and complements our team in China, linking up three key regions for our clients.”

Bob Bartell, Duff & Phelps Global Head of Investment Banking, said, “Our London-based new hires will be integral in driving M&A and restructuring growth objectives for Duff & Phelps in the UK. These professionals will build upon our reputation for creativity, deep technical and industry expertise and high-quality work.” Duff & Phelps’ latest expansion of the global investment banking team follows a number of high profile appointments over the past 12 months, including three senior hires in the UK, one in the US and the launch of an M&A team in China.
