Duff & Phelps Expands Disputes and Investigations Practice with addition of Brent K. Bersin

Duff & Phelps, the premier global valuation and corporate finance advisor, today announced that Brent K. Bersin has joined the firm as managing director in the firm’s Disputes and Investigations practice. Brent will be based in Duff & Phelps’ Houston office and brings more than 20 years’ experience in financial and business valuation as well as damages quantification consulting and expert witness testimony in the context of intellectual property and commercial disputes.

Brent’s intellectual property experience includes market assessments, valuation, licensing, and the calculation of reasonable royalty, lost profits, unjust enrichment, and price erosion damages, in matters involving unauthorized use of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade dress, and trade secrets. He also possesses substantial experience in complex commercial disputes in matters relating to breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, fraud, alter ego, post-acquisition disputes, business interruption, and valuation. He has been designated as an expert and testified at court proceedings in Federal, State, and Bankruptcy Courts as well as in arbitration proceedings.

Brent most recently served as a managing director and Houston Disputes and Litigation practice leader at a leading advisory firm. He holds a BBA degree in accounting from the University of Houston, and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas, a Certified Licensing Professional and is certified in Financial Forensics.
