Brian Meaney is a director in the New York office and part of the Valuation Advisory Services practice. Brian is part of the Technology, Information, Communication, and Entertainment (TICE) practice of Duff & Phelps and has over eight years of experience in valuation and financial advisory services.
Brian's experience includes assisting companies with valuation of businesses and intangible assets across a broad spectrum of industries, including advertising, aerospace and defense, education services, industrial products, magazine and book publishing, media, communications, and technology. He has directed engagements for numerous large clients, such as Cengage Learning, DIRECTV, Getty Images, HarperCollins, K12, News Corporation, NY Post, Pearson, Reader’s Digest, and 21st Century Fox.
Brian’s expertise is primarily focused on financial reporting and tax reporting requirements related to acquisitions, divestitures, fresh start reorganizations, tax restructuring, impairment testing, and employee compensation plans. He has extensive experience in the general valuation of technology, software trademarks/brands, customer relationships, contracts, subscriber and advertiser relationships, copyrights, backlog, inventory, and deferred revenue liabilities.
Brian received his B.S. in quantitative finance and economics from James Madison University. He is a CFA charterholder and member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
