Paul Smith is a managing director in the Manchester office and part of the Global Restructuring Advisory practice. He has more than 25 years experience in corporate banking in senior roles with major clearing banks before joining the firm in 2010 to establish the Debt Advisory team.
His comprehensive expertise in debt advisory includes helping corporate clients to renegotiate, restructure or refinance funding facilities. He has developed very strong relationships with the main lending banks and asset-based
Paul’s sector expertise includes manufacturing, wholesale, real estate, retail, professional, business services and technology.
Recent successful assignments have included the refinance of a £300m turnover motor dealership; a solvent restructure of an £80m turnover construction company and assisting in an advisory capacity to a £70m turnover manufacturing client.
Current assignments include acting as advisor to a UK funder looking to divest its non core loan book; raising debt and equity to refinance a £1bn multi - banked group and providing options reviews on a significant number of SMEs in the £5m - £50m turnover space.
The Debt Advisory Team works with clients across the UK and in terms of transaction size we can assist clients from £1m turnover upwards, who are looking for invoice discounting, through to listed PLCs.
Paul is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers and a member of the Institute for Turnaround.
