Stephen Rabel joined Duff & Phelps in January 2015 from Kinetic Partners. As a result of Duff & Phelps’ acquisition of Kinetic Partners, Duff & Phelps created a dedicated Compliance and Regulatory Consulting Practice.
Stephen is a managing director and leads the Regulatory Tax Advisory service within the Compliance and Regulatory Consulting Practice. He spent six years in the investment management group at a Big Four firm in London prior to moving to Duff & Phelps, and he spent the previous three years in New Zealand in the tax team of a Big Four firm following his completion of a dual accounting and law degree at Victoria University of Wellington.
His 16 years’ experience involves providing advice on the tax efficient structuring for hedge fund start-ups as well as leading the tax relationships on established managers. As part of the full tax service offering he has been responsible for a number of transfer pricing reviews, advised on efficient tax planning for partners and employees and provided the tax compliance services for UK based managers including dealing with HMRC enquiries.
Stephen is a regular speaker on tax issues in the investment management space, most recently concentrating on the tax implications of AIFMD, with particular focus on the tax issues arriving from the remuneration provisions. He also writes articles on various tax topics.
