Terry Evans is a director in the Atlanta office and part of the Valuation Advisory Services business unit. She has 16 years of experience in performing valuations of businesses and intangible assets across a wide variety of industries.
Terry’s areas of expertise include the valuation of businesses, intangible assets, and financial assets and liabilities for a variety of tax and financial reporting purposes including: purchase price allocations; corporate tax planning and compliance; litigation and dispute resolution; corporate reorganizations, divestitures and recapitalizations; and estate and gift tax planning. She has managed or participated in hundreds of engagements that have included the valuation of common and preferred stock; debt securities; contingent assets and liabilities; and intangible assets, among others. She has experience in the valuation of the following intangible assets: technology, in-process research and development, customer relationships, trademarks/trade names, computer software, proprietary know-how and formulas, non-compete agreements, assembled workforce and personal goodwill.
Terry’s professional highlights include business and intellectual property valuations for some of the world’s most highly recognized companies in a variety of industries. She has assisted in the defense of valuation analyses before the Internal Revenue Service for two multi-billion dollar consumer and specialty chemical products manufacturers as well as one of the world’s largest and most recognized beverage companies.
Terry is also a member of the firm’s National Office of Professional Practice which provides firm-wide technical guidance on valuation issues. She has also instructed and led technical training sessions at the firm’s internal new hire national training event and has presented various topics at annual Valuation Advisory Services management meetings. In addition, she co-authored a chapter in the Cost of Capital in Litigation: Applications and Examples (Wiley, 2010), 4th Edition. by Shannon Pratt and Roger Grabowski, which has been updated in a forthcoming 5th Edition.
Prior to her consulting career at Duff & Phelps, she was a senior manager with Standard & Poor’s Corporate Valuation Services Group, a senior manager with the Valuation Services Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and a manager with the Valuation Services Group of Arthur Andersen LLP.
Terry received her B.S. in marketing from the University of Alabama and her M.B.A. from Mercer University. She is also an accredited senior member of the American Society of Appraisers.
