Duff & Phelps Adds a Managing Director to its Investment Banking Practice

Duff & Phelps Corporation (NYSE: DUF), a leading independent financial advisory and investment banking firm, today announced that Andrew Capitman has joined the company as a Managing Director in the Investment Banking practice. He will be based in New York. Mr. Capitman brings more than 35 years of experience advising clients on a broad range of corporate finance matters, including buy- and sell-side assignments, fairness opinions, IPOs, public tenders, LBO/MBOs, government privatizations, and debt and equity placements across virtually every industry and geography.

Most recently, Mr. Capitman served as a Managing Director at The Bank of New York, in the Merchant Banking Group, where he held senior coverage responsibility for private equity firms, as well as national corporate and middle-market clients. Earlier, he served as a Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance at Fieldstone, Inc., an advisory boutique formed by Bankers Trust alum. While at Fieldstone, Mr. Capitman originated and led public market assignments in the United States, United Kingdom, Middle East and Africa. He also founded the firm's first office on the African continent, and initiated Fieldstone's sale to Gensec Bank of South Africa. 

Mr. Capitman previously served as a Managing Director at Bankers Trust Company, working in New York and London, where he focused on media transactions. While at Bankers Trust, he completed more than 50 transactions, advising clients such as Maxwell Communications, Rizzoli, Canal + and Reed Elsevier. At Bankers Trust, Mr. Capitman established the firm's European M&A practice and built a Euromoney top-ranked team, serving as its senior banker in London. 

Mr. Capitman began his career in investment banking at Deltec Banking Corporation and Drexel Burnham Lambert. He has also been actively involved in the Miami Design Preservation League for more than 30 years and currently serves as  ex officio Chairman of its Board. He is a founder of Art Deco Hotels, Ltd., in Miami, FL, where he led in the transformation of the Miami Beach Art Deco National Historic District. Mr. Capitman oversaw the restoration of several hotels and restaurants in the Art Deco District, culminating in the sale of these properties to a public company. From 2003 until this year, he served as President of Manitoga/The Russell Wright Design Center, in Garrison New York. 

Mr. Capitman graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Economics, and received a Master of Arts degree in Economics, with Honors, from the University of Miami Graduate School of Business and Economics.
