Duff & Phelps Adds Forensic Accounting Expert To Dispute Consulting Team in Toronto

Duff & Phelps Corporation, a leading independent financial advisory and investment banking firm, announced today that Gary Moulton has joined the firm’s Toronto office as a managing director in the Dispute Consulting business. He has practiced as a forensic accountant and corporate investigator for over 30 years, for clients including law firms, public and private corporations, police and prosecuting authorities, government and not-for-profit organizations. He has testified as an expert witness many times in courts and other hearings in Canada.

“Gary joins our experienced team as a proven leader in forensic accounting and financial investigations and we look forward to leveraging his knowledge – along with resources available throughout the firm – to help our clients deal with allegations of fraud, conflict of interest, and other financial impropriety, ” said Greg Higgins, global leader of Duff & Phelps’ Dispute and Legal Management Consulting practice. “With Gary on board, we are better positioned to provide fraud prevention, detection and investigation services to our clients in the Canadian market and throughout North America.”

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Moulton was a partner at Deloitte. Moulton served on the Board of the CICA’s Alliance for Excellence in Investigative and Forensic Accounting for several years, including a period as National Chair. He has conducted many forensic accounting assignments internationally, including investigations into transactions of failed financial institutions to assist with asset recovery and litigation. Moulton is a CA-designated specialist in investigative and forensic accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (FCA).

Duff & Phelps’ growing presence in Canada was established by the acquisition of Toronto-based financial advisory firm Cole & Partners in 2010. That team focuses on dispute consulting, valuation, forensic accounting and corporate finance advisory services. In 2011, the Canadian group was enhanced by the addition of RSM Richter’s Financial Restructuring Practice in Toronto; those professionals focus on restructuring and insolvency as part of Duff & Phelps’ Global Restructuring Advisory practice. Moulton’s new role with Duff & Phelps follows the addition of Harvester Forensics Limited last year; Harvester is a leading investigative firm also based in Toronto.

Duff & Phelps’ Dispute team provides services to corporate clients and their legal advisors - including damages quantification, business valuation, expert testimony, forensic accounting and investigative services, and forensic technology and analytics.
