Alan Keating Appointed Managing Director in Duff & Phelps Ireland’s Compliance and Regulatory Consulting Practice

Dublin – Duff & Phelps, the global advisor that protects, restores and maximizes value for clients, today announced the appointment of Alan Keating as a managing director in the firm’s Compliance and Regulatory Consulting practice in Ireland. With more than 20 years’ experience in the Irish financial services sector, Alan will strengthen the firm’s existing Compliance and Regulatory Consulting practice and lead the team in delivering comprehensive advisory services to international funds, their investment managers, promoters and service providers, as well as a range of domestic financial institutions across Ireland. 

Alan joins the firm from MUFG Alternative Fund Services Ireland Ltd., a MiFID authorized firm offering fund administration and reception and transmission services to clients in Ireland. He joined his previous company in 2004, when it was UBS Services (Ireland Limited), as Head of Client Services and Deputy Head of Fund Services. UBS sold the business to MUFG in 2015, and Alan became CEO of the Irish MiFID entity in 2018. Under his remit with MUFG, Alan was responsible for developing MUFG’s fund administration, depositary, banking and ancillary services offering in Europe. Prior to joining MUFG, Alan held the position of Assistant Manager of Fund Accounting at PNC Financial Services.

In this new role, Alan will have responsibility for the firm’s Management Company services, a division of the practice which oversees the management of the regulatory compliance obligations of investment managers operating under UCITS or AIFMD. Acting as a third-party management company, or Super ManCo, the service provides the necessary substance, infrastructure, reporting disclosure and supervision of delegated activities pertaining to AIFM/UCITS ManCo duties. This includes asset classes in the alternative investment space, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate, infrastructure and debt funds.

Alan is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser. He also holds a Certificate in Taxation of Irish Domiciled Funds and is a member of the Irish Funds Industry Association (IF) Fund / Management Company Governance working group.
