Andreas Chrysostomou and Daniel Platten Talk About The Big Three

Andreas Chrysostomou, Managing Director in Duff & Phelps’ Valuation Advisory Service practice and leader of its Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry practice, and Daniel Platten, Director in Duff & Phelps’ Valuation Advisory Service practice and member of its Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry practice, recently shared their views on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposed change on The Big Three in an article by Seyfarth.

Talking about fair market value, commercial reasonableness and prohibition on taking into account the volume or value of a physician’s referrals under The Big Three, Daniel commented, “This is going to provide much more flexibility in certain financial or compensation arrangements or value-based structures. This is definitely a step in the right direction to achieve what CMS set out years ago as part of the ACA value-based care initiative.” 

Andreas said, “From a transactional standpoint, the proposed rule is likely to free up providers to enter into arrangements which may have been restricted and which they were trying to avoid’.”
