Bruce Dubinsky Quoted in Fraud Intelligence Article on Fraud Reports and Statistics

Bruce Dubinsky, managing director in the Disputes and Investigations practice at Duff & Phelps, was quoted in an article in Fraud Intelligence.

The article explores publicly available fraud analysis reports and looks to leading experts, including Bruce, for guidance on how practitioners can use the data. Bruce noted that while various fraud reports are “all slightly different in that they track different characteristics, the problem is that they’re all self-reporting so it’s hard to gauge the quality.” While the fraud reports can be used anecdotally in court, they cannot be cited as evidence. While Bruce says he uses fraud reports for “educating clients, training, and trend analysis,” he has never used them in an investigation. Furthermore, Bruce states, “The other problem is a lot of businesses just won’t report the fraud…the statistics are probably under-reports of what’s going on out there.”

The article is available on the Fraud Intelligence website for its subscribers.
