Duff & Phelps Institute Chief Strategist Chris Campbell shares his insights on why the U.S.-China trade talks are expected to continue into 2020 in an interview with CNBC Worldwide Exchange.

“These are classic negotiation tactics on both sides,” Chris said. “…A re-elected President Trump, who knows where he goes on negotiations. He’s obviously proven he can use tariffs to drive a deal; he could double those or even triple those in a re-elected state.”

Prior to Duff & Phelps, Chris was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Institutions from 2017 to 2018. In that role, he was responsible for coordinating the Department’s efforts regarding financial institutions legislation and regulation, legislation affecting federal agencies that regulate or insure financial institutions and securities markets legislation and regulation.
