Duff & Phelps advised on the recapitalization of
NEW YORK – Duff & Phelps, the premier global valuation and corporate finance advisor, today announced that it has changed the name of its Business Incentives Advisory practice to Site Selection and Incentives Advisory. This change is reflective of the firm’s capability to advise businesses seeking new site locations as well as negotiate significant tax and non-tax financial incentives, in return for job creation and/or preservation and capital investment. Since 2008, the firm has managed projects involving $12.4 billion of capital investment and has secured more than $3.5 billion of incentives.
Gregory Burkart, Managing Director and Leader of Duff & Phelps’ Site Selection and Incentives Advisory practice, commented, “Amid new federal tax reform, companies are planning to repatriate capital and looking to invest in new locations and equipment upgrades. At the same time, states and local governments are intensifying their efforts to attract new companies and jobs by touting their skilled workforce, quality of life and economic development incentives. Our renamed Site Selection and Incentives Advisory practice more clearly reflects our expertise, agility and relationships that we leverage on behalf of clients seeking to benefit from these market and regulatory developments.”
Over the past six months, the Duff & Phelps Site Selection and Incentives Advisory practice has seen considerable momentum stemming from the following trends:
- Companies establishing headquarters and research and development facilities in urban cores to attract and retain millennial workers
- Foreign companies investing in new manufacturing opportunities throughout the U.S.
- U.S. manufacturers restructuring their supply chains to accommodate potential changes in trade deals
- Developers and operating companies tapping into New Markets Tax Credits and Opportunity Zone Investments to provide financing and cash subsidies for their projects
The Site Selection and Incentives Advisory practice continues to expand in targeted growth areas such as global incentives, R&D-related incentives and New Markets Tax Credits. Duff & Phelps is actively growing the practice across the U.S. and throughout its offices globally to better serve clients worldwide.
