Duff & Phelps Welcomes Phil Dakin as a Managing Director in the Restructuring Advisory Practice

Duff & Phelps, the premier global valuation and corporate finance advisor, today announces that Phil Dakin is joining the firm’s Restructuring Advisory practice as a managing director in its London office. Phil brings more than 15 years’ experience in the corporate restructuring and insolvency sector, having advised companies on procedures including independent business reviews, operational and financial restructuring, and formal insolvency appointments.

Phil joins Duff & Phelps from Greybull Capital, where he was an integral part of the team which completed the acquisition of Tata Steel’s Scunthorpe Steelworks, resulting in the rescue of 4,000 jobs. He also worked on Greybull’s deal to buy 140 convenience stores from Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, supporting a bid led by former Secret Millionaire Mike Greene and establishing the MyLocal chain of stores. Prior to his role at Greybull Capital, Phil worked as a Director at Begbies Traynor and as a Senior Manager at KPMG.

Paul Clark, Managing Director and Co-Head of UK Restructuring at Duff & Phelps, said: “We are delighted that Phil is joining the Restructuring Advisory practice, where he adds further expertise in the management of complex restructuring cases as we continue to grow our footprint in the UK. 2016 has been a transformative year for our team – in which we have managed a number of high-profile cases such as BHS and Dreamland - and with Phil on board, we are well-positioned to ensure we maintain this momentum into the next year.

Phil is a licensed insolvency practitioner and holds a degree from Durham University.
