Duff & Phelps to Host 2016 IP Value Summit

Duff & Phelps Corporation, the premier global valuation and corporate finance advisor, will host its third annual IP Value Summit on December 7-8, 2016, at The Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California. The event will focus on strategies for optimizing intellectual property across multiple disciplines including valuation and M&A, tax and transfer pricing, and litigation and licensing. The Duff & Phelps IP Value Summit will bring together corporate executives, attorneys, investors and other intellectual property experts to discuss best practices, challenges and opportunities in valuing, managing, monetizing, structuring and protecting intellectual property assets.

"The Duff & Phelps 2016 IP Value Summit will take place against the backdrop of a rapidly-evolving regulatory environment, which will likely bring consequential IP policy proposals to the table," said Jacob Silverman, President of Duff & Phelps. "We look forward to convening a distinguished forum of experts to explore these and related issues across the IP landscape."

In addition to the keynote speakers, the two-day program offers tailored sessions on IP hot topics allowing participants to customize their agenda to align with their areas of interest. Featured speakers include:

Minhas, Associate General Counsel and Chief Patent Counsel for Microsoft, will deliver one of the Summit’s keynote addresses. Minhas manages Microsoft’s worldwide portfolio of patents, and advises on an array of IP issues, including risk avoidance. In this capacity, he assesses and executes patent acquisition and divestiture opportunities, and analyzes various patents to implement sound IP strategies for Microsoft’s wealth of businesses lines and licensing programs.

James Pooley, Senior Counsel, Orrick, and the driving force behind the newly adopted Defend Trade Secrets Act, will also deliver a keynote address. A member of the IP Hall of Fame, Pooley brings over 35 years of combined experience with a deep knowledge of patents and trade secrets, proven leadership of national organizations and five years as a diplomat and manager of the international patent system (PCT).   His most recent book is Secrets: Managing Information Assets in the Age of Cyberespionage.
