Erik Laykin Comments on the Legal Use of Data From Smart Devices

Is privacy dead? Erik Laykin, managing director in Duff & Phelps Disputes and Investigations practice, was quoted in several U.S. and international website articles addressing how data from smart devices is increasingly being utilized in the legal system.

Erik states that, "when one looks at the expectation of privacy today it is radically different than it was a generation ago. The net result of these technologies is that we are forgoing our personal privacy and our personal autonomy and even sovereignty as humans and relinquishing that to a combination of state, harvesters of big data, omnipresent institutions and systems." The articles also address the need for the legal system to define limitations to protect users’ privacy.
