Nick Bayley, Managing Director and Latha Balakrishnan, Director in Duff & Phelps’ Compliance and Regulatory Consulting practice, were featured in a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit titled “Navigating Regulatory Shifts with Better Data.” The report explores how the global regulatory environment has changed since the financial crisis of 2008.
“Regulation in the past century has seen a series of peaks and troughs, as the pendulum swings between tighter, stricter regulation on the one side, and deregulation on the other. There’s no doubt that the pendulum has swung a long way towards the former,” says Nick.
This report also looks at how data, or more specifically, data privacy has become an increasing priority, particularly in light of the newly-implemented General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
“Asset managers need to invest senior management time and financial resources into implementing GDPR. This includes investment in technology resources to cope with additional data breach identification, management, reporting and escalation.” Latha adds.
