James P. Harrington is a director in Kroll Digital Valuation Solutions practice, based in Chicago. James provides technical support on client engagements involving cost of capital and business valuation matters and is a leading contributor to Kroll’ efforts in the development of studies, surveys, online content and tools and firmwide valuation models.

Previously, James was Director of Valuation Research in Morningstar's Financial Communications business, and led the group that produced the Ibbotson Stocks, Bonds, Bills and Inflation® (SBBI®) Valuation Yearbook; Ibbotson Stocks, Bonds, Bills and Inflation® (SBBI®) Classic Yearbook; Ibbotson Cost of Capital Yearbook; and various international cost of capital reports.

James is a co-author of the Valuation Handbook series along with Kroll colleagues Carla Nunes and Roger Grabowski. These include: the Valuation Handbook – International Guide to Cost of Capital; the Valuation Handbook – International Industry Cost of Capital; the Valuation Handbook – U.S. Guide to Cost of Capital; and the Valuation Handbook – U.S. Industry Cost of Capital. James is a contributing author to the Cost of Capital: Applications and Examples, 5th Edition and is a Kroll contributor to the Stocks, Bonds, Bills and Inflation® (SBBI®) Yearbook. James holds an MBA in finance and economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a B.S. in business administration from The Ohio State University.
