National Living Wage-Who Stands to Benefit?

George Osborne surprised many commentators following his recent announcement that from April next year employers will have to pay a “National Living Wage” (“NLW”) to all employees aged 25 and over.

While the NLW is news to many of the UK’s low earners and is expected to directly benefit 2.7m people, there may be severe consequences for some businesses, especially in the care sector.
