Application Portal Reopens for Aviation Jobs Protection Program Grants

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is reopening the Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection (AMJP) application portal for four weeks. Eligible companies have until September 1, 2021 to apply for funding worth up to 50% of employee wages including benefits for up to six months. Overtime and bonuses are excluded.

Requirements
  • Companies must have a hand in aerospace manufacturing–either as a component manufacturer or repair station. FAA or SAE certification is required.
  • Sales attributed to U.S. aviation activities must be at least 50% of 2019 revenue.
  • U.S. employees need to account for 50% of the company’s workforce dedicated to aviation as of April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
  • Companies must have either:
    • experienced a 15% decline in CY 2020 total operating revenue compared to CY 2019, or
    • involuntarily laid off or furloughed at least 10% of its total workforce in CY 2020 versus CY 2019.

In addition to these requirements, there are special rules that apply to the timing of receipts and spending of payments from the Employee Retention Tax Credit, Paycheck Protection Program 1 and the Payroll Support Program 1 under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or “CARES Act.”
