The Impact of COVID-19 on Goodwill Impairment - An Asian Perspective Survey Report

We are pleased to launch the Impact of COVID-19 on Goodwill Impairment - An Asian Perspective survey report. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented turmoil in the global economy and financial markets. Company projections have been affected and several factors have caused companies to consider whether a triggering event for an impairment test has occurred.

Our experts discussed these challenges during our recent webinar: Impact of COVID-19 on Goodwill Impairment – An Asian Perspective. As part of this webinar, we surveyed over 600 finance executives and advisors from the APAC region on their views on goodwill impairment trends. In this report, we summarize their responses and provide with our analysis of the results.

Highlights
  • Close to a third of the companies surveyed anticipate taking a goodwill impairment
  • About 53% of the participants mentioned that their company has started to make downward adjustments to their cash flow projections to reflect the impact of COVID-19
  • Almost half of the participants believe that the current economic downturn will be over by the end of 2021
  • Focusing on survey participants from India, the majority are still uncertain about the magnitude of the impact on their businesses
