Ben Stanyon is a director in the London office and part of the Global Restructuring Advisory practice. He has more than 16 years of experience in corporate restructuring, insolvency and turnaround. 

Earlier in his career, Ben spent 12 years within two of the "Big Four" accountancy firms, where he was exposed to a large number of formal and informal projects across a variety of sectors including retail, real estate and leisure. During this time Ben completed a secondment to Barclays, where he gained experience managing distressed lending portfolios.

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Ben spent three years within the mid-market insolvency sector where he furthered his experience in both turnaround and insolvency, working on numerous formal administrations, solvent and insolvent liquidations, and personal insolvencies. Ben has vast experience in the real estate sector, having undertaken LPA receiverships and Administrations of complex property assets including numerous commercial premises, care homes and development sites.

Ben’s career highlights include management roles on a variety of high-profile insolvencies including, Luminar (nightclub chain), Dreams (bed retailer), Petlon Polymers (Manufacturing) and Republic (menswear fashion retailer). 

Ben has also managed a number of global corporate structure simplification projects including an entity elimination project for a FTSE 100 telecoms business, which enabled the distribution of £1.77bn in reserves from members voluntary liquidations and foreign equivalent processes.

He is a qualified Insolvency Practitioner and accountant.
