David Herr is chief revenue officer at Duff & Phelps, with responsibility to lead efforts to accelerate organic revenue growth focusing on cross-service and joint-service opportunities and strategies, as well as helping new managing directors achieve commercial success.
David is a managing director in the Philadelphia office and part of the Valuation Services Advisory business unit, for which he is the global leader of the Energy & Mining industry group. He is also the Duff & Phelps Philadelphia city leader. David has 22 years of experience with the firm, starting with the Valuation Services Group within Coopers & Lybrand LLP.
David has substantial industrial products experience focused on the fossil and renewable power, utility and chemical sectors and has led more than a dozen purchase price allocations for transactions in excess of $5 billion, including five proposed power and utility transactions with purchase prices in excess of $10 billion. David has extensive experience in advising and assisting clients within the energy and mining industry with the application of Accounting Standards Codification ("ASC") 820-Fair Value Measurements, ASC 805, Business Combinations and ASC 350-Goodwill and Other Intangibles.
David has substantial experience performing both single-entity tax valuations and complex multi-tier entity rollups for energy, mining and other industrial products companies and has led the valuation of more than two hundred power plants over his career.
David has instructed numerous internal courses on topics such as valuation theory and fair value accounting. He has also been a speaker at numerous industry conferences, including Platt’s Global Power Markets Conference and InfoCast Solar Power Finance & Investment Summit.
David received his B.S. in finance from Villanova University, where he graduated first in his class. He is also a chartered financial analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia. He is also Series 63 and Series 79 Certified, certifications which are needed to provide Investment Banking Mergers & Acquisitions Services. Prior to his valuation career, David was a pitcher in the Montreal Expos organization.
