Ed is a managing director in the New York office of Duff & Phelps and a member of the firm’s Consumer, Food, Restaurant and Retail M&A Advisory group. He has over 15 years of experience advising companies in M&A and corporate strategy.

Ed specializes in the execution of mergers and acquisitions, exclusive sales and divestitures, private placements, restructuring and recapitalization transactions. In addition, he has advised boards of directors and special committees, and issued fairness and solvency opinions for leveraged recapitalizations, change of control transactions and special situations. 

Ed’s e-Commerce and Specialty Retailing experience includes: Gordmans Stores on its restructuring and sale to Stage Stores; Dover Saddlery on its going private transaction with Webster Capital; The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. on the divestiture of selected assets; Eastern Mountain Sports on its sale to Versa Capital Management; Ultra Stores on its sale to Signet Jewelers; Zumiez on its acquisition of Blue Tomato; Balducci’s on its sale to Angelo, Gordon & Co. portfolio company Kings Super Markets; and Tourneau on its recapitalization transaction with Leonard Green & Partners.

His Branded Consumer Products experience includes: Osprey Packs on its recapitalization with Freeman Spogli & Co.; Montana Silversmiths on its sale to Diamond State Ventures; Home Meridian International on its sale to Hooker Furniture; Wilson Sporting Goods on its acquisition of Louisville Slugger; Best Made Toys on its sale to S.J. Partners; and The Marlin Firearms Co. on its sale to Cerberus Capital Management’s portfolio company Remington Arms.

Ed received his MBA in finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and his BA in biology from Macalester College. He is a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) registered representative, holding the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
