Francisco Fernández is a director in the Madrid office and part of the Restructuring Advisory practice. He has more than 25 years of professional experience as a chartered accountant, finance manager and business consultant.

His main areas of focus surround work on fraud investigations, reorganization and restructuring projects, working capital management, cash management and as CRO in numerous companies. Francisco has also prepared defense and ratified Expert Witness Reports in different criminal, civil and labor courts.

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Francisco served as director and leader of the Fraud practice at Forest Partners, which was acquired by Duff & Phelps in February 2019. His main responsibilities relate to forensic engagements, fraud investigations and reorganization and restructuring projects. He has successfully carried out numerous projects across various sectors including industrials, commercial, construction, retail and distribution.

He started his professional career in the audit department at KPMG, where he reached the level of senior manager carrying out audits, business reviews and due diligence exercises for international clients in Spain and abroad. He also worked for two years at KPMG’s Short Hills office in New Jersey, U.S., mainly working with industrial and consumer goods clients.

After KPMG, he joined an international construction management company as finance director. Following that, he joined a major multinational company in Spain as audit, procedures and systems manager and later became international finance and operations manager, based in Amsterdam. He was responsible for all the operations in Africa and the Middle East for that multinational company, being a member of the management team looking after designing, leading and executing turnaround activities which resulted in significant improvements of all operations (related to commercial, marketing, distribution, production and finance functions). These activities included major restructurings, reorganizations, redesigns, significant cost–cutting strategies, redundancies as well as helping to change the embedded Company values and culture which resulted in an increase of the Company´s EBIT.
