Ian leads the industrial valuation and fixed asset management practices. He specializes in the valuation of industrial and commercial property, machinery and equipment such as oil and gas plants, refining sites, all types of transportation, chemical processing plants, hotels and mining extraction sites. He is widely considered one of the UK’s leading practitioners in his field and regularly writes and lectures on valuation topics.
Ian has performed valuations for numerous purposes including mergers and acquisitions, allocation of purchase price, financial reporting, taxation, purchase and sale, financing and privatisation. He has undertaken and managed valuation and consulting engagements on four continents and has provided appraisal services in more than 25 countries.
Ian joined American Appraisal in 1989 as an industrial appraiser. For several years prior, he was employed as a consultant by one of the world’s leading firms of chartered accountants. Additionally, he has experience in the management of civil and hydraulic construction projects, gained with a regional public body and a major utility.
