Robert Peters is a Sales and Use Tax Services senior advisor, based in the Chicago office. He leverages over 35 years of extensive experience providing state, local and federal tax services to corporate clients.

Prior to joining Kroll, Robert spent 29 years with KPMG where he led several practice areas and served as national partner for state and local taxes.

Robert advises clients ranging from the Fortune 500 to emerging companies in a wide range of industries, including consumer products, energy, media and communication, manufacturing, financial services and technology enterprises. His client experience includes managing large multi-state planning projects, sales tax advisory, sales tax system implementations and co/outsourcing engagements of sales/unclaimed property. Robert has also led a number of M&A multidisciplinary reviews that have included other members of the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services and other practice groups.

He is a frequent speaker, writer and contributor to national publications on state and local tax, sales tax and unclaimed property topics. Robert also regularly writes content for the Kroll SALT Minds blog.

Robert received an BA in finance from New York University, an executive MBA from Stanford University and a B.S. in accounting, cum laude from the University of Denver. He is a Certified Public Accountant and serves on several non-profit organizations serving disadvantaged youths, including Board Chairperson for Stand Up for Kids, an organization serving homeless youths across the U.S.
